Our handyman

The handyman we hired this time finished the work 18 days late.  The photos below are examples of his work. He never covered the brand new refrigerator while he was painting the room. I have never met anybody like him. I did warn him a few times about it and he always said "do not worry",.... The result is like this. This is a just a small part of his work.  It is best to hire a person who is popular and busy.

今回雇ったハンディマン、予定よりも18日も遅れてようやく工事を終えました。仕事ぶりは写真の通りです。新品の冷蔵庫にも何もカバーもしないで、室内のペンキを塗る、、、こんな人にお目にかかったのは初めてです。工事の途中で何度も注意をしましたが、心配しなくても大丈夫と言って聞く耳を持ちませんでした。その結果がこの通り、これはほんの1部です。いつも忙しくて評判の良い人を雇うのが1番です。

Learning

I went to a physical therapist today for first time; I also got a traction machine to extend the neck. I really want to get well!

We went to the condo today and were surprised that the remodel has not moved forward at all in 2 days.  The person we hired talks a lot but the action doesn't follow. We regret that we did not have the same person who worked with us before. He has a good reputation. Oh well, we are learning.

私は初めてフィジカルセラピストへ、首を伸ばすトラクションという器械も購入し、徹底的に治すことにしました。

内装工事は行ってみてびっくり、この二日間全然進んでないのです。今回雇った人は、口ばかりで行動が伴いません。以前頼んだ人に頼むべきだったと後悔、、、、彼は評判も良いのです。あ~~~あ~~~いつも学んでます。

Mirrors

We had the mirrors installed today. Now we can see the surfers and waves from inside the condo through the mirrors. And the tops of the beautiful trees in Kapiolani Park, too. 

今日は大型の鏡を設置。サーファーや波の様子が鏡に映って、コンドの室内からでも見えるようになりました。カピオラニパークの美しい木も、たくさん見えま~す。

Changes

We wanted to keep the wall paper to begin with as it was still in good condition but it was too hard to repair the holes. Now we decided to tear it off and paint the whole wall. It is going to look nice as we also made the ceiling smooth.

始めは、壁紙の状態が良いのでこのまま残す予定でしたが、止めピンの跡が綺麗に直らないのです。天井もスムーズにしたので、この際、壁紙も剥がしてペンキを塗ることにしました。

   

Refrigerator

We went to buy a refrigerator. There are many large ones but only one small size in stock so we bought it to get the job done. 

今日は冷蔵庫の買い物に。大型は種類も色々ありますが、在庫のある小型は1種類だけ、それで簡単に決まりです。

Massage

There are three massage shops at Waikiki Grand Hotel. We will try one soon if it is authentic Thai Massage.

ワイキキグランドホテルには、マッサージ店が３件も入っています。タイマッサージは、ホンモノかな~~？ 今度試してみます。

Mexico

We went to a Mexican restaurant far away from here as our friend recommended it. It's called Mexico. It looks foreign inside and out, runs by Mexican people. The food is very tasty and large portions; we took home the leftovers!

友人の勧めでちょっと遠くにあるメキシカンレストランへ行ってきました。名前もそのままメキシコです。外見も室内も異風で、オーナーはメキシコ人とのこと。お料理も美味でボリュームたっぷり、残りは家に持ち帰りました。

Checking the progress

We are going to change these mirrors to one large mirror. We will have a better ocean view.

Look at the tile floor....the handy man working for us said that it will be fine, It will come out clean so do not worry....... I think that there should be someting on the floor to begin with..... I don't like it.

この三枚の古い鏡を一枚の大きな鏡に取り替えます。海がもっとバッチリ映るでしょう。

タイルの床をこんなに汚して、、、あとで綺麗になるからなんて言ってますが、、、工事の始めから床に何かを敷いてすれば良いのに、、、わたしは気に入りません。

Shrimp from Kauai island

I baked Kauai shrimp in the oven but it is hard to peel off the shell. It is very tasty though!

We stopped at Hawaiian Monarch to the repair the window blinds today. My husband Steve is an excellent handyman. This building is a condotel; you can rent by the day.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall

We are getting an estimate to replace the mirrors today. Young and handsome, he is the owner of Glass Guru. We highly recommend his company, he is always prompted and gives you a reasonable price.

今日は、鏡を新しくするために見積もりに来てもらいました。若くてハンサムな彼は、グラスグルのオーナーです。いつも時間通り、値段も他より安いので、お勧めです。

Mud on the ceiling

Concrete appears after removing the popcorn ceiling.

Now we need cover it with 'mud' and sand it to make it smooth.

天井のポップコーンシーリングを剥がすと、コンクリートが現れるんですよ。（アスベストも無くなってスッキリです）

この後は漆喰を塗ってスムーズにしていきます。

Hawaii 5-0

We went to see the World Premier of Hawaii 5-0. Many people came from all over the world for this annual event. 

We only see big sky, Diamond head and the ocean from this recreation deck. What a luxury view, away from bustling part of Waikiki.

夕方、ハワイファイブオーのワールドプレミアを見に行ってきました。世界中から多くの人たちがこのイベントのために参加しています。

このレクレーションデッキからは、大空とダイヤモンドヘッド、そして海だけが目に入ります。ワイキキの喧騒から離れた贅沢なビュー、、、。

Hawaiian music by Cyril Pahinu

We went to listen to Cyril Pahinui play Hawaiian music near where we live. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, and now he was playing here our neighborhood.

ふらりとシリル パヒヌイのハワイアンミュージックを聞きに近くのホテルへ、、、彼はカーネギホールでも演奏します。こんな身近なところで聴けるなんて、、、。
