Open house

We went to an open house in downtown Honolulu today. They painted the walls and it looked nice but the cabinet doors were not done well; everything needed one more coat of paint; the work was sloppy, too.

今日はホノルルダウンタウンのオープンハウスの見学へ行ってきました。壁は新しくペンキが塗られて良かったのですが、キャビネットのドアは、もう1~2回重ね塗りが必要です。仕上げが雑で残念でした。

The Boss

This beautiful lady is Paru, our guest from San Diego. Her husband wants to buy a house in the country in Hawaii but she wants to be in town. Her husband is smart enough to know that she is the boss.

この美女はパルさん、サンディエゴからのお客様です。ご主人はハワイの田舎で、小さな家を買って住みたいそうですが、奥様は賑やかな街での暮らしがすき、、、夫婦円満のためには、奥様の言うことを聞かなければならないとわかっている賢い旦那様でした。

Kimchi house

We visited an open house today.

There were three refrigerators filled with kimchi ingredients and home made Shoyu in large bottles, all in the living room.  Unique Asian culture is still alive here in Hawaii. Are they going to make a lots of kimchi and give it to their friends?

あるお宅のオープンハウスに行ってきました。冷蔵庫が3台もリビングに並んいて、その中はキムチの材料でいっぱい、大きなガラスの瓶には自家製の醤油も保存されていました。こんなユニークなアジア文化がハワイでは生きています。たくさんキムチを作っておすそ分けするのかな？

 

Painter

We met a painter to get an estimate to paint the interior walls. We are going to get bids from three companies for our client. Gelene has been a resident of Hawaii for 38 years and is owner of the company.

今日は室内の壁のペンキを塗り変えるために、見積もりに来てもらいました。お客様のための見積もりは３件から貰います。ゲレネさんはハワイ在住38年、ペンキ会社のオーナーです。

It's nice to have plants inside the store.

植物がお店の中にあるだけでこんなにステキになります。

Guests in and out

One guest checks out at 11 AM and another checked in at 3 o'clock, we worked hard for 4 hours to add more furniture and handyman stuff.

Thanks to the carpenter and housekeeper.

チェックアウト11時からチェックイン3時までのわずか4時間の間、大工さんとハウスキーパーさんは大忙しです。新しい家具を入れたり、あれこれと、、、どうもありがとうございました。

Morning Coffee

New tenant

We helped checkin the tenant at our new rental today. Stella is a movie set designer and worked on Jurassic Park and Godzilla. She liked the unit at first sight that made us very happy.

She goes out looking for the locations for the movie, sometimes far away in the  jungle and mountains;  she loves her job because it is very creative. She is very profesional with 20 years of experience.

今日は、私たちの新しいレンタルのチェックイン。ステラさんは映画のステージデザイナーで、ジュラシックパークやゴジラもてがけました。改装したお部屋を一目で気に入り、とても嬉しかったです。

映画のロケーションを探すのも仕事とのこと、遠くのジャングルや山にも入って行くそうです。クリエイティブな仕事大好き、この道20年のプロフェッショナルです。

Real estate class

I attended a real estate class recently about second homes, vacation rentals, investment, and luxury properties. I learned that you don't have to file taxes for rental income if you rent it for less than 14 days a year but you need to file if rented more than that. 

先日、不動産  (セカンドハウス、投資 高額物件)の勉強会に参加しました。自宅を年間14日以内で貸した場合は、所得申告はしなくても良いですが、15日以上貸した場合は、全日数の申告が必要になります。

Victor

We attended a  meeting of Real Estate Investors tonight. The special guest was Victor tonight. He left home when he was 12 years old and now he is a mentor for men that have already been successful real estate investors. He said that many people know real estate very well, and you must take action, go OUT and DO that you have studied.

今日は、不動産投資グループメンバーのミーティングがありました。今夜のスペシャルゲストはビクターさんです。12歳で家を出て、現在は不動産投資で成功した人たちの指導教師をしています。彼曰く"不動産の知識がある人は大勢いる、あとは学習したことをアクションするのみ"とのことです。

Jazz organist from NY

We went to see Akiko Tsuruga, jazz organist from New York City, tonight at the Kahala Hotel.

Her CD is number five on the Billboard jazz chart.

 ニューヨークのジャズオルガン奏者 敦賀明子 さんの演奏を聴きにカハラホテルへ行ってきました。彼女のCDは、ジャズビルボードチャート ナンバー5です。

New pickle ball racquets

It has been a while since we ordered the new pickle balls and racquets but they finally arrived. It's so humid and uncomfortable but we wanted to play. They are very loud and we were surprised.

ようやくオーダーしていたピックルボールと新しいラケットが届きました。今にも雨が降りそうなこの蒸し暑さの中でちょっとだけプレイ、ものすごく弾くような音がするのにはびっくりです。

Mariposa

Had lunch at Mariposa Ala Moana today. Many Japanese girls were there. It has a great view of Ala Moana park and the ocean.

初めてアラモアナ、マリポサで昼食。日本人女性のお客様でいっぱい、アラモアパークと海が見渡せるます。

Condos and Barbecue areas

This condo has a large swimming pool on the roof top but no barbecue facility.  Condos do not allow BBQs on the lanais so make sure that there is a barbecue facility (if that is important to you).

ビルの屋上に大きなプールがあっても、バーベキュー設備のないコンドもあるんですよ。ベランダでは禁じられてますので、バーベキューのお好きな方は、必ず確認してくださいね。

New tenant

There is no website for our new rental yet but we got a new tenant. She is a movie set designer, works in Hawaii and the mainland. This unit is so clean and new, she loved it at the first sight. There is monthly parking available for $180 at the Waikiki Banyan near by.

まだこのユニットのウェブサイトはありませんが、新しいテナントさんが見つかりました。彼女は映画のセットデザイナー、ハワイと本土を行ったり来たりしています。お部屋が新しく綺麗なので一目でお気に入り、駐車場は近くのワイキキバ二ヤン（月＄180）を利用されます。

The cost of style

What a taste in color some people have. The room is dark and depressing. What a waste; you have to remove all the tiles and remodel the room. It cost money and time but that is the price you pay to make YOUR style. 

こういう濃厚な色合いを好きな人もいるんですね。お部屋も暗くて、気分まで重くなりそう。

せっかくのタイルを剥がして改装するには、お金と時間もかかるし、、、あ~~勿体無い。でも自分好みにするには、仕方がありません。

My brunch is so colorful and cute; these are all leftovers from last night's dinner.

Pleasant July 4th

Many boat are out in the ocean. We enjoyed barbecued shrimp with our new friends. Happy July 4th!

海には沢山のボートが、、、今日はアメリカの独立記念日です。新しいお友達とバーベキュー、あ~~楽しかった!

Chinese tourists

This is the duty-free shop in Waikiki. They sell chocolate and cookies. Many tourists from China are visiting Hawaii so Chinese speaking people work there.

ここはワイキキの免税店、チョコレートやクッキーの売り場です。最近は中国人の観光客が増え店員さんも中国語が話せる人がほとんどです。

Music

The Outrigger Reef Beach Resort has top quality local music every evening starting at 6 PM.  

アウトリガー リーフ ビーチ リゾート ホテルでは、毎夕6時から、すばらしいローカルミュージックを聞くことができます。

Panda Express

 

We were walking on Kalakaua and stopped by the Royal Hawaiian Center's food court on the 2nd floor; we like Panda Express.

ぶらりと夜のカラカウア通り、ローヤルハワイアンセンター2階のフードコートへ、、、、パンダエクスプレスって美味しいんですよ~~。
