There is a cacao farm in North Shore Oahu. People are buying their chocolate for gifts from Hawaii. I'm gonna try too.

Fire

There was a fire on the hill between Manoa and Palolo today. The green hill turned to brown.

今日マノアとパロロの間で山火事が、、、緑が焦げて、茶色になってしまいました。

I found out there is a store on Kalakaua Ave in Waikiki where you can get good pupus. 

最近気がついたのですが、ワイキキのカラカウア通りには、便利なストアもあります。

ちょっとおつまみが欲しいときには、ここに行くと手に入りますよ。

Lunch at Yu Chun

We went to one of our vacation rentals to check it out this morning. We delivered the new towels and did some repairing and sewing.

After that we went to a popular cold noodle Korean restaurant. We ordered the cold black noodle that is made from arrowroot and buckwheat. It was chewy and comes with a fine shaved ice like soup.

It had plenty of noodle but we wish there was more protein.

今日は朝からバーケーションレンタルのチェックへ。新しいタオルを届けたり、小さな修繕、針仕事、、、。その後、昼食は韓国冷麺で人気のレストランへ。かき氷のようなみぞれスープの中に、葛粉とそば粉がミックスされた歯ごたえのある黒い麺が入っています。麺の量は多いのですが、タンパク質の具が少ないのが物足りなかった。

Responding to a guest's review

Today, our vacation rental guest wrote in a review that the towels are getting worn in one of our rentals. I went shopping right away and am now washing those linens at home.

Usually the housekeeper checks things like that and lets us know it is time to change but she missed this one.  I guess I should go there more offten to check it out. We appreciate that the guest still gave us 4 stars!

今日は、チェックアウトされたお客様から、タオルがヨレヨレになってきているとの書き込みがありました。これは大変とばかり、すぐにショッピングへ、、、その後、家で大洗濯。

いつもハウスキーパーさんが、新しいリネンと変える時期を知らせてくれるのですが、今回はミス。やはり人任せだけではいけないとつくづく反省、今後はもっと足を運んで点検に行きます。こんなことがあっても、お客様から４つ星を頂いて感謝しています。

Hiding in high rises

There is a bar hiding in the shadow. The building is in bad shape, looks like a tear down. We can hear the drunk people talking very loud all the way from here. We couldn't see any entrance. Reminds me of  being in a third world country.

その影には、今にも崩れそうな建物の中にバーもあり、人々が酔っ払って大声で話しているのがこちらまで聞こえてきます。入り口もどこなのか？ 第三諸国にいるような錯覚に陥ります。

Dinner

This is our typical healthy dinner, fresh veggies and ahi tataki with cajun spice on top of it.

We usually get our carbs from alcohol.

これが我が家のマンネリ化した、ヘルシー夕食です。

生野菜の上にマグロのケージャンスパイスのたたき。炭水化物はアルコールでとります。

My aunt does dishes after dinner. She is in a bit of a good mood after my special drink!

Beijing Chinese Seafood Restaurant

We went to a Chinese restaurant, only a 5 minute walk from where we live. We go out to Chinese restaurants quite often to eat some tasty rich food. My cooking style is very simple, usually seafood on top of the fresh veggies. It is healthy but missing some flavor. I hardlly ever used to go to a Chinese restaurant, maybe once a year. Now I go there even though they use MSG and a lot of grease. It's okay. If you care about healthy stuff too much, life gets miserable. It's better to enjoy life; whenever you want to eat, you better eat. Am I getting old thinking this way?

家から5分のところにある中華料理店

どういう訳か、最近の外食は中華が定番になってしまいました。それは我が家の食事は至って簡単、生野菜の上にシーフードがのっかっているようなものなのが原因。ヘルシー度は抜群ですが、味付けがアッサリでちょっぴり寂しい。それで濃厚な味のついたものを、、それで中華が食べたくなるんですね。以前の私なら、中華料理店には年に1度行くかなってな感じでしたが、今は、もうなんでもOK、少々油が多くても、化学調味料が使われていても、へちゃらです。そんなことを気にしてたら人生がつまらなくなってしまいます。食べたい時にはなんでも食べて楽しむこと。こんな心境になったのも歳のせいかしら？ 

Board of director's meeting at Aloha Towers

We attended the board of director's meeting at Aloha Towers tonight.

We feel this is one of the best maintained buildings in Waikiki; it is very clean everywhere. 

There are many old condos in Waikiki.

You have to be careful if you purchase a property just because the sale price is inexpensive. 

You may have to face a special assesment in the future. We always check to see how much reserve funds the AOAO has.

ワイキキの中でも管理が大変良いビルの一つです。掃除が隅々まで行き届き、とても綺麗です。ワイキキには古いコンドがたくさんありますが、価格が安くて購入しやすくても注意が必要。管理費に含まれている積立金が少ないと、将来ビルの維持のため莫大な費用がかかることもあるからです。購入する前に必ず、その積立金がいくらあるかを調べることが大切です。

Missiing my aunt already

It is almost the end of a 3 month stay/ for my aunt from Japan.

I'm already missing her!

She was very helpful, cleaning the house, doing dishes, and helping with my open house too.

I feel sorry that I could not do as many fun things this time because there was so much work.

I hope she can come back to Hawaii next winter ------even this summer.

叔母のハワイでの3ヶ月の滞在もあとわずかに迫りました。

もう寂しさも始まっています。

お掃除、食事の片付け、その他私の仕事のお手伝いまでよくしてくれました。

今回は、忙しくてあまりかまってあげられずにごめんなさい。

また来年も来られるかな？いや夏にもまた来てください。

今夜は、毎月行われるワイキキ ネイバーフッド ボードのミーティングがありました。

Fireworks at Waikiki Beach

Today was the last day of Honolulu festival.

We enjoyed fireworks from Nagaoka Japan at Waikiki Beach. 

Honolulu and Nagaoka City have been sister cities since 2012.

Japanese fireworks are very beautiful, we had to stop eating so we could watch the fireworks.

今日はホノルルフェスティバルの最終日、長岡花火がワイキキで打ち上げられました。ホノルルと長岡市は、姉妹都市提携を2012年に結んでいます。日本の花火は、ただドッカーンと大きいだけでなく、実に美しい、、、、食事の途中で箸を休め、ただじーっと見入ってしまいました。

Remodel the kitchen
